Social Work Exams

All social work license exams maintained by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). There are four categories: Bachelors, Masters, Advanced Generalist and Clinical.

Salary Report

It’s no secret that salary is not one of the most attractive benefits of becoming a social worker.  In 2014, the Bureau of Labor Statistics  reported clinical social workers earning an average salary of $51,930 with top earners coming in as high as $76,940. The BLS also notes that recent reports show the median has grown 12 percent to a national average of $59,100.

Payscale reports salary ranges for the most common roles between $41,661 up to $54,611.

Top industries social workers were employed included:

Hospitals; state, local, and private $56,550

Ambulatory healthcare services 45,550
Nursing and residential care facilities 39,470
