South Dakota Social Work Licensure Requirements

  2. Pass the South Dakota required license exam

LCSW:  Licensed Certified Social Worker

  1. Obtain a masters or doctorate degree in social work from an accredited program
  2. Pass the South Dakota required license exam

LCISW: Licensed Certified Social Worker in Private or Independent Practice

  1. Licensed as a certified social worker for at least 2 years
  2. 2 years of supervised field experience
  3. Pass the South Dakota required license exam
