During social work month, many of the nation’s social work programs also acknowledge the profession they help to perpetuate. Sacred Heart University, for example, is waiving the application fee for the entire month of March for any applicants wishing to pursue their top-ranked Masters of Social Work program.

As defined by the NASW, the Social Work Month 2019 theme is Elevate Social Work. This theme seeks to illuminate what social workers truly are.

They are the leaders who dared to go where others will not. They are the advocates for those who are in need. They are the champions for those who are treated unfairly.

Celebrating Those Who Make a Difference

Brooke Krohn, School Social Worker
Brooke Krohn, a 13-year school social worker was nominated by her principal for the LifeChanger award as a result of her efforts at Ellendale Elementary and New Richland High School. Beyond her normal responsibilities, Brooke consistently goes above and beyond to coordinate a backpack program alongside the New Richland Area Food Shelf, providing supplemental meals to over 90 children within the district.
